Travel Snacks In Nigeria

Going on a road trip there are a few things that makes it an interesting one and these include a good playlist , good choice of traveling partners and most importantly a good travel snack.

Travel snacks are one of the essential must haves while going on a road trip because road trips usually take up to one hour or more   and not having travel snacks to replenish hunger usually makes the trip boring.
As a Nigerian you definitely get to see different travel snacks when at the bus park or on your way as you go through the journey.

 Favorite Travel Snack in Nigeria

Below are some of the Nigerian travel snacks that are consumed by individuals embarking on a road trip.

1.Sausage Roll and Drink :

Sausage roll which is commonly called “Gala” ( it is known as this because gala was one of the first sausage rolls to be produced in Nigeria ) is the most purchased travel snack that most people consume while going on a road trip and it is usually consumed alongside any soft drink . This combination actually keeps you full and satisfied for a long while which is why most people consume it. There different types of sausage roll that are usually consumed in Nigeria are gala , rite, bigi, beefy , super bite and many more while the different brands of drink that are consumed are coca-cola , Pepsi , Fanta , bigi and so much more.

2. Plantain Chips / Potato Chips :

Plantain or potato chips are one of the travel snack consumables and it is usually sold in traffic and also at the bus park . Most people consume it because it is cheap  and it is large in quantity . Plantain or potato chips is also consumed side-by-side with a drink of one’s choice.

3. Boiled Egg :

This might sound weird to some people but boiled egg is known to be a travel snack in Nigeria  consumed by some travelers . Some say it gives them energy while others say that it keeps their mouth busy . This is usually sold by road side hawkers and they come very cheap.

4. Dodo Ikire:

This is also a travel snack in Nigeria. It is usually sold in the western part of Nigeria and it is made from over ripe plantain, pepper , oil and salt. This snack is usually eaten by the Yoruba’s and it is taken along side with water since it is very spicy.

5. Biscuit and Drink :

Biscuit is a well know snack and it is usually bought for kids who are embarking on a road trip with their parents and also bought by adults . It can be taken with water or soft drinks and it is also very affordable.

    1. I have witnessed a lot of people that eat boiled egg while we were on a road trip even though I don’t eat it but I’ve never experienced someone farting after eating it though
